Featured technology: Switchable solvents/surfactants

Researchers at Queen’s University have developed novel classes of Green switchable solvents and surfactants. These new materials can be reversibly, switched from polar to less-polar forms (for solvents) and from emulsifying to demulsifying forms (for surfactants) using CO2 as a trigger. Benefits include reduced manufacturing costs and energy input and improved recyclability.
