Generating solutions that improve both the economy and the environment.

Government of Ontario

The Government of Ontario has invested more than $16 million to help establish GreenCentre, the goals of which are sustainable, prosperous, and healthy communities that provide high-quality jobs and better lives for all Ontarians.

Government of Canada

The Networks of Centres of Excellence (NCE) fund partnerships between universities, industry, government, and not-for-profit organizations, and the Government of Canada has invested $18.2 million to date. NCE helps turn Canadian research and entrepreneurial talent into economic and social benefits for all Canadians, and they selected GreenCentre because we are “putting Canada on the vanguard of a sustainable green chemical and materials industry.

Within this network, GreenCentre is among the Centres of Excellence for Commercialization and Research (CECR). Each centre shares knowledge, expertise, and resources to bring new technologies to market faster. These cost-shared centres stimulate new commercialization activities that would likely have never taken place without the CECR program. The program funds operating and commercialization costs, but research and infrastructure costs must be covered by other federal programs or through initiatives like those run by the Canada Foundation for Innovation and granting agencies.
