Dr. Luiza Freitas obtained her MSc in the area of Organic Chemistry at Universidade Federal de Minas Gerais in 2009, then continued on to obtain her PhD in 2014, under the supervision of Prof. Rosemeire B. Alves, from the same University. Her research was focused on the synthesis of 1,2,3-triazoles derivatives for biomedical applications as well as catalysis. During her PhD studies, Luiza participated in a year long exchange at Queen’s University, Kingston with Prof. Cathleen M. Crudden. From March 2014 – August 2016, she worked as a postdoctoral fellow at Centro de Desenvolvimento da Tecnologia Nuclear, in the field of nanomaterials, working with mesoporous silica for drug delivery. From October 2016 – September 2018, she joined the Crudden group as a postdoctoral fellow to work on palladium catalyzed cross-coupling reactions, metal-free catalysis and boron chemistry. In October 2018, she joined the GreenCentre team.
