GreenCentre Canada Appoints Chief Executive Officer for Forward Water Technologies

KINGSTON, ONT. (July 16, 2015) — GreenCentre Canada and Forward Water Technologies are pleased to announce the appointment of Dr. C. Howie Honeyman as Chief Executive Officer of Forward Water Technologies. Since October 2012, Honeyman has worked as the Chief Technology Officer of GreenCentre Canada, where he oversaw its technical and commercial activities.

Honeyman has a wide-ranging and extensive background in developing and commercializing emerging materials-based technologies. He previously worked at the Massachusetts-based E Ink Corporation, where he led the development of the first major commercial “Ink” platform, which is now the cornerstone of commercial e-readers like the Amazon Kindle. He holds a Ph.D. in Chemistry from the University of Toronto and is an inventor of record on more than 30 U.S. patents and published patent applications.

“GreenCentre Canada is thrilled Howie will be leading our second spin-off company,” said Pete Pigott, Executive Director of GreenCentre. “Howie’s knowledge, enthusiasm, and drive is exactly what Forward Water requires to bring this revolutionary technology to market.”

“The potential of Forward Water Technologies to magnify the global fresh water supply is truly astonishing. Being able to directly participate in transforming that potential to a reality is a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity. Along with GreenCentre Canada, I am elated to be part of that challenge,” Honeyman said. “In the coming months, Forward Water will show the world that through innovation and careful commercialization, green chemistry can truly solve global sustainability demands.”

About Forward Water Technologies

Forward Water Technologies, a GreenCentre spin-off company, is revolutionizing fresh water production through an inexpensive, low-energy desalination approach that uses switchable salt to purify water. This technology will allow for the economical treatment of saline water including difficult-to-treat wastewater in the resource sector while providing a fresh-water stream that can be recycled into operations, leading to both a reduction in total water costs and environmental footprint.
